Restinn Oosterleek, Noord-Holland
The farm of Dick and Nel Bransen is located directly on the West Friese Omringdijk at the Markermeer, the former IJsselmeer / Zuiderzee. This is Holland in its purest form.
Here no sounds of fast driving traffic but it is all nature that you hear .... the wind, the water, the many meadow birds and the sound of silence! The beach on the other side of the dike used to be the favorite spot of the entrepreneurial couple. Many times they said to each other, " Just imagine you could live here ". 25 years later the site was for sale and feel the family is king in Oosterleek. "Our paradise" Dick and Nel call this quiet, rural location. And that's no exaggeration!
The menagerie of horses, sheep, chickens, peacocks, goats and dogs is for Dick and Nell a pure hobby. Here there are no active agricultural activities anymore. The beach, at 1 minute walking distance, is an excellent place for everyone who likes swimming, sunbathing and fishing.
Things to explore
Oosterleek is a small community on a unique location with approximately 100 inhabitants. It is the resting place of the Wesfriese Omringdijk between the VOC towns of Hoorn and Enkhuizen. On the dike you have a magnificent view over the Markermeer with its variety of vessels. The dike is the starting point for cycling or hiking through a varied landscape of orchards, colourful tulip fields, pastures with cattle and picturesque villages famous for the West Frisian bell farms.
